Why it exists
Right now there’s no platform that helps researchers inside a community actually build something together: post a real research proposal, find the right people, start a company.
So we built one, somewhere a connection turns into work. General networks are built to collect reactions. Republic of Minds is built for what comes after a connection: a research proposal that gets applications, an applicant who is accepted, a startup that fills its founding team.
What it does
It brings research matching, co-founder matching, mentoring and the institution's own community into one place. Two matching engines sit at the centre: one for research projects and thesis positions, a separate one for startups and co-founders. The same person can post a project in the morning and apply to someone else's in the afternoon.
There are nine modules, and the institution turns on only the ones its members will use.
- Opportunities. Research and thesis positions, posted by faculty and applied to with one profile. Every application has a state, so nobody wonders where they stand.
- Directory. Everyone in your institution, searchable by what they actually work on. Faculty, students and partners in one place.
- Feed. Where the institution talks. Posts, votes, threaded replies and link previews, all of it internal.
- Mentorship. Mentors publish the hours they actually have. Mentees book against them and both sides get the calendar invite.
- Startups & Co-Founders. Research turns into companies here. Founders post what they're building and who they need; co-founders apply by role.
- News & Events. Announcements and a live calendar, written in markdown and pinned when they matter.
- Committees. The governance layer. People request to join, admins approve, and the roster is public where you want it to be.
- Jobs. Openings from partner organisations, shown to the people already in your directory.
- Data Warehouse. One access point to institutional data, with permissions that follow your own policies.
Who it is for
One community platform for higher education and research, set up the way your institution is organised.
- Research universities. Give departments one place to find each other, instead of a mailing list nobody reads.
- Consortia. Run one community across member institutions, with governance and committees built in.
- Hospital networks. Connect clinicians and researchers across sites, and keep the work inside the network.
- Research institutes. Research proposals can grow into companies, without anyone leaving the institute.
- Alumni networks. Keep graduates close after they leave: they mentor students, come back for events and find each other by year and field.
How it works with institutions
- Every institution gets its own instance, under its own name, colours and corner style. Members see their institution when they log in, never a vendor.
- Only people with the institution's email domains can register. Staff are verified by an admin before they appear in the directory.
- A consortium, hospital network or alumni network can run one community across all its members, each with its own email domains.
- Data is hosted in the European Union or in the United States, at the institution's choice.
- The price depends on the modules switched on, how many people are inside and how much help the institution wants. Every plan includes the institution's own brand, access by its email domains, the admin area and every update.
