# Republic of Minds

> Create a community with your own branding, for universities, consortia, hospitals and alumni networks. Members share projects, build startups and join events.

The platform your institution runs on. **Build your community, make the difference.** Matching, mentoring, collaboration, projects, community and startups. Nine modules, and you turn on the ones you need.

## Product

**Start one, or join one.** Research projects and startups work the same way from both sides. The same person can post a project in the morning and apply to someone else's in the afternoon.

### Research project

Start your own:

1. **Post your project.** Say what it's about, how many hours it takes and who you need. Ask for a cover letter if you want one.
2. **Applications come to you.** Each one arrives with a CV, a cover letter and the person's publications.
3. **Pick who joins.** Move people to under review, then accept. Everyone hears back.

Join someone's:

1. **Find a project that fits.** Search by research area and see the ones closest to your own work first.
2. **Apply with your profile.** Your CV and transcript are already attached. Write the cover letter and send.
3. **See where it stands.** Sent, under review, accepted. No chasing anyone by email.

**Matched. Now you work together.** The project shows up under My Matches for both of you.

### Startup

Start your own:

1. **Pitch your startup.** One line, the full pitch, the equity on offer, and the roles you need filled.
2. **Co-founders apply by role.** Every application says which role it's for and why they want in.
3. **Build the founding team.** Accept one person per role until every seat is taken.

Join someone's:

1. **Find a startup to join.** Search by sector, or by the role you want to play.
2. **Apply for a role.** Pick the role, say why you want to join, and send.
3. **Hear back from the founders.** Follow your application until they decide.

**You're on the founding team.** The startup shows up under My Matches, with everyone who's in.

### Everything that gets you there.

- **Find your fellows.** See who works on what, where, and who has time to collaborate.
- **Read their publications.** Profiles pull in publications from ORCID, so you know who you're working with.
- **Book a mentor.** Get advice before you apply or pitch. Mentors publish the hours they really have.
- **Post it to the feed.** Share your project where the community already is, and let it collect votes and comments.
- **Meet at events.** News and events in one calendar. Say you're going and it's in yours too.

## Why

**LinkedIn, but for your own community.** Right now there’s no platform that helps researchers inside a community actually build something together: post a real research proposal, find the right people, start a company. So we built one, somewhere a connection turns into work.

- **Not another social network.** Every connection here leads somewhere: a thesis, a collaboration, a co-founder.
- **Only your people.** Access runs on your own email domains. The directory is your faculty, your students, your partners. Nobody else.
- **Research turns into companies.** Proposals and co-founder matching are modules of their own, not a jobs tab bolted onto a feed.

## Your brand

**Your brand, not ours.** Every institution gets its own instance, with its name, its colours, its corners. Members see your institution when they log in, never a vendor.

## Institutions

**Built for institutions of any shape.** One community platform for higher education and research, set up the way your institution is organised.

- **Research universities.** Give departments one place to find each other, instead of a mailing list nobody reads.
- **Consortia.** Run one community across member institutions, with governance and committees built in.
- **Hospital networks.** Connect clinicians and researchers across sites, and keep the work inside the network.
- **Research institutes.** Research proposals can grow into companies, without anyone leaving the institute.
- **Alumni networks.** Keep graduates close after they leave: they mentor students, come back for events and find each other by year and field.

## Modules

**Nine modules. Built to grow and engage.**

### Opportunities

Research and thesis positions, posted by faculty and applied to with one profile. Every application has a state, so nobody wonders where they stand.

- Apply once with your CV and a cover letter, then reuse the profile
- Four stages from first review to final match
- Positions expire after 90 days, so the board stays real
- Post and manage your own positions from one dashboard

### Directory

Everyone in your institution, searchable by what they actually work on. Faculty, students and partners in one place.

- Search by research area, not just by name
- Faculty profiles imported per department
- People choose whether they appear

### Feed

Where the institution talks. Posts, votes, threaded replies and link previews, all of it internal.

- Sort by hot, new or top
- Threaded comments with their own votes
- Links unfurl into previews

### Mentorship

Mentors publish the hours they actually have. Mentees book against them and both sides get the calendar invite.

- A weekly pattern plus exceptions, in the mentor's own timezone
- Notice periods, buffers and a daily cap
- Reminders and cancellations handled automatically

### Startups & Co-Founders

Research turns into companies here. Founders post what they're building and who they need; co-founders apply by role.

- Proposals carry the pitch, the stage and the roles open
- Applications name the role they're for
- A second matching engine, separate from research

### News & Events

Announcements and a live calendar, written in markdown and pinned when they matter.

- News and events in one timeline
- Drafts before anything goes out
- Full-text search across everything published

### Committees

The governance layer. People request to join, admins approve, and the roster is public where you want it to be.

- Join requests with an approval step
- Members can belong to several committees
- A public page for the ones you publish

### Jobs

Openings from partner organisations, shown to the people already in your directory.

- Partners post directly
- Matched against research areas already on file
- Applications reuse the same profile

### Data Warehouse

One access point to institutional data, with permissions that follow your own policies.

- Data from across the institution in one place
- Dashboards and reporting on top of it
- Access governed by your rules, not ours

## Access and control

**You decide who is inside.** The controls an institution asks about first, each one a screen in the admin area.

- **Email domains.** Registration only accepts the domains you list, and puts people in the right institution.
- **Verification.** Staff ask to be verified and an admin approves. Only then do they appear in the directory.
- **Moderation.** Members can report a post or a project. Admins see the reports in one queue and keep or remove it.

## Pricing

**You pay for the modules you turn on.** Your price depends on the modules you switch on, how many people are inside and how much help you want. Pricing is personalised, so we quote it on the call, once we know what you need. Every plan comes with your own brand, access by your email domains, the admin area and every update.

## FAQ

**What institutions ask us first.** If your question isn't here, bring it to the call.

### How is this different from LinkedIn?

Everyone on it belongs to your institution, and it is built for starting work together. Research proposals, applications and co-founder matching are modules of their own. A post doesn't collect reactions from strangers, it's built to actually start a collaboration.

### Will our members see your brand anywhere?

No. Your instance carries your institution's name, colours and corner style. Members see your institution when they log in, never a vendor.

### Who can join?

Only people with an email address on your university's or institution's domains. They sign up with that address, and someone using a personal email is turned away. Staff ask to be verified, and an admin approves them before they appear in the directory.

### Can several institutions share one community?

Yes. A university consortium, a hospital network or an alumni network runs one community across its members. Each member's email domains put its people in the right institution, and committees and cross-site projects are built in.

### Where is our data hosted?

In the European Union or in the United States. You choose which.

### Who decides what stays up?

Your admins. Members can report a post or a project, the reports land in one queue, and an admin keeps it or removes it. The author is told when something of theirs is removed, and why.

### Do we need all nine modules?

No. Turn on the ones your members will use and leave the rest off. You pay for the modules you switch on.

### What does it cost?

It depends on the modules you switch on, how many people are inside and how much help you want, so we quote it on a 30-minute call. Every plan includes your own brand, access by your email domains, the admin area and every update.
